One can become a member by: Confession of Faith: This process marks the initial entrance into membership in the church when one confesses faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. By Reaffirmation of Faith: This process marks renewing of our confession of faith after a period of inactivity or not being on a church membership role. Transfer of Membership: You may be joining from another United Methodist Church or a Christian church of another denomination. We recognize Baptism from all other Christian churches. New members orientation is held quarterly.

  • What is the Baptism process?

Through baptism we are joined with the church and with Christians everywhere. Baptism is a symbol of new life and a sign of God’s love and forgiveness of our sins. Persons of any age can be baptized. At Journey, we baptize by sprinkling, immersion, or pouring. A person receives the sacrament of baptism only once in his or her life.

  • What are spiritual disciplines?

Spiritual disciplines are basic Christian practices designed to help us live out the commandment given to us by the Lord. “You shall love the lord with all your heart with all your soul and with all your mind. You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” (Matthew 22:36-38) Spiritual disciplines are both acts of devotion (to God) and acts of mercy (to your neighbor). Acts of devotion include worship, prayer (private and family), Holy Communion, Bible Study, fasting or abstinence. Acts of mercy include caring for the poor, caring for our neighbors, visiting jails/prisons, welcoming all, seeking justice and acting for the common good.

It honors people who give sacrificially of their time, talent, and treasure to the ministry of the church.
